Mary Devis history

I'm here to introduce you my love, perfection for me, and my husband's nightmare, Mary Devis. This is a doll from the reign of King George II, circa 1730. The original doll was sold 10 years ago at auction for $37,628.

The doll has a rather strange and confusing story, which I will try to investigate.
In the first photo, the original of this doll, the picture is taken from some book.

The second photo is also the original, it was this photo that I fell in love with many years ago, a photo from an auction, where the doll was described in detail and her name was given - Mary Devis,

but after a while I stumble on photo No. 3 on the net,

from another auction, where the same doll is shown, in the same dress, but the difference is clearly noticeable, it is clear that the doll was significantly restored, the wig was replaced, a blue ribbon was added, but this is not indicated in the description of the auction ..
4 and 5 photos are free replicas of the great The Old Pretenders, who were also in love with her

And 6 photo is my replica of this doll that I am working on now

Original and my replica together

But I'm still tormented, maybe, nevertheless, make it old, like the original, original version, before restoration?

Went into the workshop now, and she is sitting there .. I love her ..

PS If only the husband did not come in, he is terribly afraid of her

My own witch

The house has been decorated with winter décor for a long time now, and I can't find time to upload pictures of my latest  #queenannewitchdoll
And this is the first witch I finally made for me
I cut it out 2 years ago, and all this time it has been patiently waiting for me to put it on. I am very pleased with this style of dress, and with the doll in general, I love her)
Perhaps this is my cheekiest witch, because I cut her out 2 years ago, when my son's chubby cheeks were the standard of beauty for me😁

Emma and Ember

 Emma and her cat Ember.

I am very pleased with this work, everything was created with inspiration for my beloved customer.

It turned out very noble and elegant, black and silver - an exquisite combination, I liked working in this range

Everything is as it should be, sharp-nosed, silk, with buckles. As always, all materials are antique, from fabrics and lace to threads and cut'n'steel. And this delicious moire silk

The prettiest pincushion

The doll leaves for England, to her sister, the lady in blue from the previous pair, which is especially nice)

As usual, all used fabrics and laces and even threads are antique

By the way, I kept this fabric for 3 years, if I am not mistaken, my hand did not rise to cut, and now, finally, the hour has struck. A very good fabric for needle beds, dense and strong. And yet, I stuff my pincushions exclusively with sheep's wool, the needles are sharpened on it when they are stuck.

The young lady dearly loved by me, the last #pincuisiondoll. I really like how she turned out, cute, characteristic and very lively. An atypical oval of the face for me, I tried to repeat one of the old dolls, but they always, always turn out different
I like her very much, and a slight half-smile, and plump lips, and cheeks, I think that one of the best-turned-out of my dolls💗
