Antique darning

Have you ever seen how darned linen 100 years ago?

I work only with antique and vintage french batiste, and every time I am amazed at how much painstaking work is put into each shirt, because all the lines, lace, everything was done only by hand .. therefore, such things were valued, and people wanted to maximize their service life. And I am very glad to be able to give them a second life in doll clothes, preserving as much as possible all hand seams, inserts and darn places.

In the XVIII century a shirt with a short sleeve and a low neckline was worn directly on the body. Wealthy women wore shirts made of delicate fabrics such as silk, muslin, cambric, trimmed with lace, ribbons, embroidery. Batiste shirts from antique French cambric for two new Queen Anne dolls, sewn completely by hand, authentic seams and darning places preserved
